"Hong
Kong Vinyl Madness"
Vinyl
Figures really took off in Hong Kong. And boy are we happy!
It's produced some extremely good quality work with tons
of inspiration for a new generation. "HK Vinyl"
is really a style that started out being very design oriented
and released in limited numbers. Bounty Hunter was one of
the first in the game and Michael Lau took it from there
mixing in an urban sense to his figures. Now American companies
like Mezco have been bit by the bug and are producing similar
style figures in America.

"Speed
Limit 500"
Vinyls
are still extremely interesting. Most are done with a technique
called "roto-cast," rotational molding, where
the vinyl comes out hollow and extremely soft. A rubber
duck is an purist's example. These figures are usually produced
in limited quantities, around 500-1000, at which point even
a little bit of a turn around is not a bad risk. This has
spawned a great process, in our minds, since the little
guys can at least actualize one piece. Soooo...there you
have it! Enjoy!
